Zojuist weer een nieuwe tekst geschreven, om uiting te geven aan mijn frustraties over het feit dat tegenwoordig alles groen heet, maar niet feitelijk groen of duurzaam word.

Future, or what's left of it...
Green is good, or so they say.
It seems the way to go.
But what is green for you today?
More than a far-away show?
All new things, apparently,
Are sustainable, if you can
Believe the ads, which always lie.
I’m not their biggest fan…
A petrol-soaking 4x4
Gets labeled with an A
For being green, but I’m not sure
Whether I think that’s OK…
A future for our children is something we need to build.
We had a world to give away, but what we’ve done to it until today
Cannot be cured just by our guilt.
The things we need to do aren’t clear,
Though goals are set in stone.
CO2 has become everyone’s fear,
As climate change rages on.
Everyone sees certain death,
Knows things will have to change.
But few will be the first to start
And make a difference.
Luxury is what we want,
TV, PC, a car.
But if we want to change, we can’t,
‘cause stopping goes too far…
The future for our children is something we’ve screwed up.
We had a world to give away, but as we’ve proven up until today,
While abusing it, we just couldn’t stop.
